‘Sports Event – 2025’ inaugurated at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University — Vice Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal advised everyone to engage in physical activities

Lucknow: The ‘Sports Event – 2025’ organized by the Sports Section of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University was inaugurated on November 11. The program was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Sumant Pandey and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Srivastava from Lucknow University, along with Prof. K.L. Mahawar, Director of the Sports Section, and Dr. Manoj Kumar Dadwal, Assistant Director.

The program commenced with the floral tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s portrait, followed by the felicitation of the Vice Chancellor and faculty members with bouquets by the organizing committee as a gesture of gratitude. The event was officially inaugurated when the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor threw the ball into the basketball ring, marking the commencement of the sports competitions.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mittal emphasized the importance of exercise and sports in daily life, stating that they are essential for a healthy lifestyle. He added that due to today’s unorganized lifestyle, many diseases have become common, and regular physical activities can help prevent them. He urged all departments to motivate students to spend at least one hour daily in sports and physical exercises. Such practices, he noted, help in developing concentration, unity, mutual understanding, harmony, and the strength to face challenges with resilience.

The first basketball match was played between the University Institute of Engineering and Technology and the School of Physical and Decision Sciences, while the second match was held between the School of Management Studies and the School of Life Sciences (girls’ teams). On this occasion, NCC Cadets of the 67 UP Battalion presented a Guard of Honour. The inauguration session was attended by Deans of various schools, Heads of Departments, faculty members, non-teaching staff, research scholars, and students.
