Special Diwan Held in Lucknow Under ‘Vidya ke Langar’ Initiative

Lucknow: Under the aegis of the Lucknow Gurdwara Management Committee, a special diwan (religious congregation) was organized today to honor outstanding individuals associated with the ‘Vidya ke Langar’ initiative and those rendering exceptional community service.

Addressing the gathering, President of the Lucknow Gurdwara Management Committee informed that the committee has been continuously conducting religious, social, and nationalist programs for the past 28 years. Continuing this legacy, Acting President S. Harpal Singh Jaggi highlighted that for the last two years, the committee has been running UPSC coaching classes under the ‘Vidya ke Langar’ mission, overseen by a retired IPS officer.

He further added that any student aspiring to excel in other fields but facing financial constraints is also provided financial assistance by the committee.

As part of this initiative, Gurjot Singh, who has recently been selected for commercial pilot training at the Indira Gandhi Institute, Raebareli, was awarded a grant of ₹2 lakh by the Lucknow Gurdwara Management Committee. A collective prayer (Ardas) was performed for his success and future endeavors.

S. Satpal Singh Meet informed that, similar to previous years, UPSC coaching is ongoing, and this year, meritorious students with more than 85% marks will be honored in a special ceremony. Additionally, coaching support will be provided to students preparing for UPSC examinations. Notably, 40 seats at Akal University have been reserved exclusively for Sikh students seeking coaching, and further information can be obtained from Acting President S. Harpal Singh Jaggi.

The committee remains steadfast in its commitment to healthcare and education for all.

In recognition of outstanding community service, S. Tejpal Singh, President of Gurdwara Sadar, announced that S. Jaswinder Singh Bedi, S. Rajinder Singh Bindra, S. Gurmukh Singh Arora, and Senior Vice President S. Inder Singh Chhabra were honored for their exceptional contributions.

The Uttar Pradesh Sikh Vichar Manch also played a significant role in supporting this educational grant initiative.

The event witnessed active participation and support from several dignitaries, including Raju Gandhi, Vicky Bagga Ji, Satveer Singh Anand, Kapil Arora, Harshdeep Singh, Ajna Pal Singh, Manmeet Singh Bunty, Daljeet Singh Tony, Surinderpal Singh Bakshi, S. Narendra Singh Monga, and Surinder Golu, among others.

Following the Diwan, the Guru ka Langar (community meal) was served to all attendees.
