South Zone Police Bust House-Break Gang Operating Across PGI Area

Four habitual offenders arrested; stolen cash, jewellery, vehicles and equipment recovered

Lucknow: The Lucknow Police Commissionerate’s South Zone team, in a joint operation conducted by PGI Police Station and the Surveillance Cell, has successfully cracked a series of house-break and theft incidents reported over the past few weeks. Police have arrested four young habitual offenders, recovering multiple stolen items including a steel safe, HP laser printer, electronic scooter, motorcycle and ₹7,350 in cash.

A series of break-ins triggers investigation

Several residents of the PGI and Vrindavan Yojna area registered complaints between November 6 and November 18, 2025, reporting forced entry into their homes and theft of valuables.

Among the key cases were:

  • Case 1: Complainant S.K. Sithi, resident of Sector 16B, Vrindavan Yojana, reported that during the night of 6–7 November, unknown thieves entered his home and stole a mobile phone and jewellery. An FIR under Sections 305(A)/331(4) BNS was lodged.

  • Case 2: Complainant Amit Kumar of Vrindavan Colony reported theft of valuables and cash after unknown persons broke into his locked house, leading to registration of another FIR under Section 305(A) BNS.

  • Case 3: On 12 November, complainant Mukesh Bahadur Singh, resident of Eldeco-2, Rae Bareli Road, reported the theft of a safe from his prayer room. FIR No. 584/25 under Sections 305(A)/331(4) BNS was registered.

  • Case 4: On 18 November, complainant Sandeep Kumar Aval informed police that his relatives’ locked house in Vrindavan Sector-5 was broken into and jewellery, cash and items from the temple area were stolen. FIR No. 593/25 was filed under Section 305(A) BNS.

With multiple linked incidents piling up, police formed a dedicated team including the South Zone Surveillance Cell to identify the culprits.

Technical surveillance leads to arrests

Police examined over 200 CCTV footage points, manual surveillance inputs and technical evidence. This led to the identification and arrest of the four accused:

  1. Suraj Gautam alias Saddam (26), resident of Yuggaura, Sarojininagar – runs a tea cart.

  2. Shivam Vikrama alias Kallu (19), resident of Natkheda, Alambagh – mechanic.

  3. Mudit Saha alias Ayush alias Bengali (24), resident of Sector-H, LDA Colony, Aashiyana – mechanic.

  4. Akash Verma, (24), resident of Ram Nagar, Alambagh – runs a momos stall.

During interrogation, the gang confessed they conducted daytime reconnaissance, taking turns to “recce” houses. Once sure the house was empty, they would strike at night, break locks, steal valuables and distribute the stolen goods among themselves.

All four have a history of involvement in multiple theft cases across Aashiyana, Madiyaon, Talakatora, Krishnanagar and PGI police station areas.

Recovered Items

Police recovered the following based on the accused persons’ information:

  • 01 steel safe
  • 01 HP laser printer
  • 01 crowbar
  • 01 Splendor motorcycle (UP32 UM 0799) used in the crime
  • 01 TVS electric scooter
  • ₹7,350 in cash

Police statement

Officials stated that the arrests have helped solve four registered cases (FIR Nos. 569/25, 573/25, 584/25, 593/25), bringing relief to residents troubled by the recent spate of thefts. Legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
