Mumbai: 2025 proved to be a landmark year for Sonam Bajwa, as the Punjabi superstar made a striking entry into Hindi cinema. In her debut year, she featured in three major Bollywood films — Housefull 5, Baaghi 4, and Ek Diwane Ki Deewaniyat — with the latter emerging as one of the biggest Diwali hits of the year. Now, Sonam is all set to continue her winning streak in 2026, beginning with a major release in the very first month: Border 2.
The recently released teaser of Border 2 shows Sonam Bajwa opposite Diljit Dosanjh in this war-based drama, marking her fourth Hindi film. Having worked with top stars in all her Hindi projects, Sonam has firmly established her star power. With 2025 ending on a high note thanks to Ek Diwane Ki Deewaniyat, 2026 is set to kick off even bigger with Border 2.
Speaking about her upcoming project, Sonam Bajwa said, “Director Anurag Singh approached me for Border 2. We already share a great working relationship from our previous films. Interestingly, Diljit was also part of both projects, so our collaboration in Punjab has been really special.”
She added, “In Border 2, I play ‘Manjeet’, a Punjabi girl from Ambala, who is married to Flying Officer Nirmaljeet Singh Sekhon, played by Diljit Dosanjh. Anurag told me that my name was the first that came to his mind for Manjeet’s role, which meant a lot to me. I was very excited — as soon as I learned Border 2 was happening, it became a dream project for me.”
Recalling her childhood memories, Sonam said, “I honestly can’t remember how many times I watched the original Border on TV. It’s one of my favorite films and holds a lot of childhood memories for me. Being part of a project like this makes me feel proud and extremely happy.”
Border 2 is slated for release on Republic Day 2026 and stars Sonam Bajwa alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, and Anya Singh in key roles.
