The Jannat actress shared the news on her Instagram handle, expressing her excitement and gratitude to the film’s creators for welcoming her into one of India’s most popular cinematic universes.

“Feeling Blessed and Excited,” Says Sonal

Joining ‘Mirzapur: The Film’ is a huge honour, and I can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve created. Thank you Ritesh, Farhan Akhtar, Gurmeet Singh, and Excel Movies for bringing me into the world of Mirzapur. Excited is an understatement!”

A Power-Packed Cast and Crew

Directed by Gurmeet Singh, the film is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. The film features the original cast — Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, and Divyenndu Sharma — alongside new additions like Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Mohan Malik, and now Sonal Chauhan.

‘Mirzapur: The Film’ promises to expand the gritty universe of power, revenge, and politics that has captivated millions across India and beyond. The movie is set to take the Mirzapur saga “to a grander scale” with new characters, higher stakes, and a cinematic experience unlike any before.

From Web to Big Screen

The Mirzapur series, with three successful seasons on Prime Video, has built a massive fan base through its portrayal of power struggles in the heartlands of Uttar Pradesh. Now, with Gurmeet Singh helming the feature film version, fans can expect an intense, high-octane narrative that stays true to the series’ raw essence while exploring fresh dimensions.

Produced by Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur: The Film is set for a nationwide theatrical release in 2026, before eventually streaming online. With Sonal Chauhan joining the ensemble, the excitement around the project has reached new heights.

As one fan aptly commented on social media: “Mirzapur just got more powerful — and more glamorous.”
