Lucknow: To provide relief to the citizens of Uttar Pradesh from the increasing consumption of electricity and its increased prices, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is promoting solar energy as an alternative. Work is going on on many big projects related to solar energy across the state. Solar parks are also included in these projects.
A total of 9 solar parks are being made operational in the state, with a total capacity of 3710 MW. Out of these, 3 solar parks of 435 MW have also been commissioned, while the bidding process is going on to commission the remaining 6 solar parks soon. The process of land allocation for all these 9 solar parks has been completed. It is noteworthy that under the guidance of CM Yogi, solar parks have been built in cities like Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Mirzapur and Prayagraj in addition to 4 cities of Bundelkhand (Jhansi, Lalitpur, Chitrakoot and Jalaun). In these, bidding is going on for the solar parks under construction in Bundelkhand and Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat. Award process continues through tender
Director of Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, Anupam Kumar Shukla, said that the state has received large scale investment in the field of solar energy, especially for the establishment of solar parks. Under this, 9 solar parks are being developed. In this, a total of 435 MW solar parks with 365 MW capacity and 65 MW capacity have been commissioned, where production has started. Apart from this, Jhansi, Lalitpur Solar Park of 600 MW capacity, Chitrakoot Solar Park of 800 MW capacity, Jalaun Solar Park of 1200 MW capacity, Kanpur Dehat Solar Park of 75 MW capacity and Kanpur Nagar Solar Park of 35 MW capacity are under construction. The process of award through tender is going on in these. The tender for Jhansi has been issued only two days ago, while the tender for Lalitpur and Chitrakoot Solar Park will be issued by Tuesday. The tender for Jalaun Solar Park will also be issued in the next 15 days.
Land has been allotted for all these 3710 MW solar parks, while connectivity has also been arranged. He said that apart from the 3710 MW solar park under construction, various projects of 6900 MW are also going on in the entire state. Including roof top solar plants and all other solar projects, a total of 4130 MW solar projects have been commissioned.
Target of producing 22 thousand MW electricity from solar energy in the state
Apart from solar parks, the state government is also focusing on installing rooftop solar on the roofs of houses, setting up solar towns, providing solar power to agricultural farms, pump storage and production of bio-energy. UP is also at the second place in the country in the field of biomass energy production.
Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, solar power plants are being installed on the roofs of 25 lakh houses in the state, due to which people will get 300 units of free electricity. The target is to produce 22 thousand MW electricity from solar energy in the state. In this, 6 thousand MW will be generated by installing solar rooftop plants in private and government buildings and solar utility projects and solar parks of 14 thousand MW capacity will be established. Similarly, under the PM Kusum scheme, 16.17 MW grid tubewells are being operated with solar energy.
What is Solar Park Scheme?
Solar Park Scheme was launched in December 2014 to support the states in setting up solar parks at various places in the country with the aim of creating the necessary infrastructure for setting up solar energy projects. A solar park is a large part of the land, which is developed with all the transmission infrastructure, common infrastructure facilities like road, water, communication network. Under this scheme implemented by the Government of India for the development of solar parks and ultra mega solar power projects, 39,250 MW capacity has been approved. So far, solar projects of 11,591 MW capacity have been established in the country in 22 solar parks.
