SMS Lucknow Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Patriotic Zeal

Lucknow: The School of Management Sciences (SMS), Lucknow celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. The celebrations began at 9:00 AM with the ceremonial flag hoisting by  Sharad Singh, Secretary & Chief Executive Officer, who paid homage to the brave martyrs whose sacrifices secured India’s freedom.

On the occasion, Prof. Ashish Bhatnagar, Director, addressed the gathering of faculty, alumni, staff, and students, reflecting on India’s inspiring journey since 1947. He highlighted the nation’s significant strides in education, science, technology, defence, and the economy. Urging students to take up research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility, he emphasized the pivotal role of youth in shaping India’s future.

In his special remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Bharat Raj Singh underlined India’s growing defence prowess. He highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, through which terrorist camps and air bases across Pakistan were neutralized, demonstrating India’s strategic edge. He also noted the strength of indigenous defence systems like the Akash missile and the global recognition of the BrahMos missile for its precision strikes. Prof. Singh stressed that the vision of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047” could only be achieved through academia’s contribution and youth committed to integrity, discipline, and patriotism. He further emphasized sustainable development and environmental responsibility as cornerstones of India’s progress.

The SMS fraternity also paid heartfelt tribute to  Satish Kumar Singh, the institution’s founding architect and guiding force, who passed away on April 17, 2025. His visionary leadership, which transformed SMS into a NAAC Grade A+ institution, was remembered with deep respect, followed by a solemn moment of silence.

The celebration saw enthusiastic participation from senior administrators including Dr. Dharmendra Singh (Associate Director & Dean Student Welfare), Dr. P.K. Singh (Dean – Engineering), Dr. Hemant Kumar (Joint Director), Dr. V.B. Singh (Chief General Manager), Surendra Srivastava (Registrar),  S.N. Shukla (Head of Departments), as well as coordinators, faculty, staff, alumni representatives, security personnel, and students.

The event concluded with patriotic songs, a vote of thanks by Dr. P.K. Singh, and the distribution of sweets, creating an atmosphere of unity, pride, and remembrance across the campus.
