Lucknow: Emphasizing the critical role of skill development in accelerating economic growth, Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal, chaired a high-level review meeting at the state secretariat to strategize the roadmap toward achieving the ambitious $1 trillion economy target.
The meeting brought together senior officials and industry stakeholders to review departmental plans and assess progress in aligning skill development initiatives with the state’s long-term economic vision.
Focus on Timely Implementation and employment
Reviewing the performance of various schemes, Minister Agarwal directed officials to ensure time-bound and effective implementation so that maximum employment opportunities can be created for the youth. He stressed that equipping young people with industry-relevant skills is essential to improving employability and boosting economic productivity.
Strengthening ITIs with Industry Collaboration
A key highlight of the meeting was the discussion on strengthening Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) through collaboration with Tata Technologies. The focus remained on introducing modern training models and enhancing infrastructure to match industry requirements.
The minister reiterated that preparing youth according to evolving industry demands remains the government’s top priority, ensuring better job prospects and a skilled workforce for emerging sectors.

Future Skills and Emerging Technologies
Representatives from Deloitte presented a comprehensive outlook on future-ready skills, emerging technologies, and the changing industrial landscape. The presentation highlighted the need for continuous upskilling and adoption of innovative training methodologies to stay competitive.
Driving the $1 Trillion Vision
Minister Agarwal stated that empowering youth through modern, employment-oriented skills and creating a pool of trained human resources for industries are vital steps toward achieving the state’s $1 trillion economy goal. He called for innovation, technological upgradation, and stronger coordination with industries to enhance the effectiveness of skill development programs.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said that sustained efforts in skill development are not only making youth self-reliant but also giving a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh’s economic momentum.
