Lucknow— The Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has concluded a nine-day orientation workshop aimed at enhancing transparency and quality in vocational training. The event, held from August 25 to September 11, was attended by 25 industrial training partners and 162 private training providers. The mission’s goal is to achieve “Skill for all, Work for all” as per the vision of the state government.
Speaking at the conclusion of the workshop, Mission Director Pulkit Khare emphasized the need for accountability and quality in training. He announced several key measures to be implemented going forward.
Key Initiatives for Training Excellence
To ensure transparency and boost local engagement, the mission has made it mandatory for all new training batches to be inaugurated by the local MLA.
A new “Parents’ Day” concept will be introduced to inform trainees’ guardians about the program and its benefits. Trainees will be required to upload selfies with their parents to the mission portal as a way to gather feedback and ensure transparency.
Furthermore, a 5% reservation for differently-abled persons and a 33% participation target for women have been set for all training batches in the financial year 2025-26.
Live Monitoring and Local Employment
In a significant move to ensure real-time quality control, the mission will implement live telecasts of all training batches from its headquarters. The workshop also focused on creating local employment opportunities. The mission has identified the top five industrial sectors in each district and plans to train youth specifically for these areas.
Minister for Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal, has directed a strong focus on the youth from aspirational blocks. The mission director warned that any negligence in training quality would not be tolerated and announced that similar orientation workshops will be held every two to three months to address any issues and ensure continuous improvement.
