Lucknow: Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Government is providing youth with skills to offer them employment and self-employment opportunities. Through the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, youth are being given job-oriented training and are being employed in various industrial institutions. Skilled youth have a significant role in achieving the goal of making the state’s economy worth $1 trillion.
These thoughts were expressed by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Kapil Dev Agarwal, while inaugurating a three-day capacity building workshop. The workshop began on Monday at Hotel Centrum, Ansal, Sushant Golf City, Lucknow, with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
Minister Agarwal stated that numerous opportunities are available for youth across all sectors in the state. In view of the growing demand for trained human resources in accordance with daily needs, the state government is planning to open skill training centers in every district. He urged training providers to offer high-quality training to build a better future for youth. He also instructed that providers showing good performance be encouraged, while action must be ensured against those who underperform.
Dr. Hari Om, Principal Secretary of Vocational Education and Skill Development, emphasized the need for large-scale training of youth considering the vast population of Uttar Pradesh. He stressed improving training quality, obtaining feedback from trainees, and taking solid steps to make youth self-reliant through Skill Development Mission and ITIs.
Abhishek Singh, Director of Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, stated that the workshop has been organized to enhance the working efficiency of departmental officers, Project Implementation Agencies (PIAs), Training Partners (TPs), and other personnel. Ground-level issues will be resolved through mutual dialogue in this workshop.
On the first day of the workshop, technical sessions were conducted on topics like project initiation, training center operation, candidate management (via Skill Register and Skill India Portal), helpdesk, inspection, on-the-job training, evaluation, financial management module, PFMS, planning and placement management, and an overview of DDU-GKY 2.0. Additionally, an interactive session was also held.
On the second day, these technical sessions will be repeated with in-depth discussions. Practical field-level challenges will be addressed, and suggestions will be gathered during an open feedback session. A special workshop on financial management and placement modules will also be conducted by the State-Level PFMS Nodal Team.
The workshop was attended by Neha Prakash, Director of Training and Employment, Priya Singh, Additional Mission Director, department officials, PIAs, and TP representatives.
