Silk Heritage on Display as Grand Handloom Exhibition Opens at Kaiserbagh

Lucknow: Marking the festive season of Christmas and the New Year, a grand exhibition showcasing India’s rich silk and handloom heritage was inaugurated at the historic Safed Baradari in Kaiserbagh. The event has been organised by New Craft Silk India and brings together master weavers from several states under one roof.

The exhibition features an extensive range of traditional silk garments, including Banarasi, Chanderi, Tassar, Kanchipuram, Ikkat and Paithani weaves, along with Jaipuri Bagru prints. All showcased products are made from pure natural fibres and carry authentic Silk and Handloom Marks, highlighting their eco-friendly and artisanal value.

Fashion creator and model Divya Ruby formally inaugurated the exhibition, appreciating the craftsmanship and detailing of the collections on display. The stalls present a harmonious blend of age-old weaving techniques and contemporary design sensibilities, making the exhibition appealing to both traditional and modern tastes.

According to the organisers, the exhibition will remain open to the public until January 4 and January 26, offering visitors ample opportunity to explore and purchase handcrafted silk garments directly from artisans.

Organisers Manas Acharya and Javed Maqsood stated that the primary aim of the initiative is to provide a wider platform for weavers while creating awareness about India’s diverse silk traditions. They added that such exhibitions help preserve cultural heritage while supporting sustainable livelihoods for artisans.

The event has already begun attracting handloom enthusiasts, fashion lovers and conscious buyers, turning Safed Baradari into a vibrant celebration of Indian textile artistry.
