Shaurya Naval Museum Near Ekana Stadium Taking Shape in Lucknow

  • Retired Warships, Submarines, Missiles and Naval Aircraft to Be Showcased
  • Aimed at Inspiring the Youth with Stories of Courage, Sacrifice and National Pride

Lucknow: A grand ‘Shaurya Museum’ dedicated to the bravery and legacy of the Indian Navy is currently under construction near Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The museum aims to showcase the valour, historical milestones and technological strength of the Navy, serving as an inspiration especially for the younger generation.

Sharing the update, Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said that this museum will be a significant addition to the chain of religious and historical destinations that the state capital is known for. “The upcoming naval museum will be a key attraction near Ekana Stadium, telling stories of India’s maritime strength through multimedia displays, immersive narratives, and historic exhibits,” he said.

The museum will feature retired naval warships, equipment from INS Gomati, Sea King helicopters, and Sea Harrier aircraft. The facility will offer visitors a close look at the tools and machines that once served in the defence of the nation. Artefacts such as missiles, torpedoes, cannons, and other decommissioned weaponry will also be displayed.

“This will be India’s first museum specifically dedicated to naval warships and vessels,” Singh said. “It will also serve as a valuable resource for students, researchers, and historians, granting them access to rare materials and documents related to Indian naval history.”

A joint initiative by the UP Tourism Department and the Indian Navy, the museum will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) to enhance the visitor experience. Spectators will be able to witness key naval missions and life aboard a ship through interactive zones and digital storytelling. The museum will also feature historical documents, regular workshops, and lectures by experts on naval strategies, evolution, and pivotal events.

In a first, the museum will include thematic zones, each dedicated to a specific era or type of naval warfare. Environmental impacts of naval missions will also be highlighted.

To promote holistic learning for children, the museum will offer interactive installations that blend play and exploration with education. These child-friendly spaces are designed to encourage curiosity and family engagement.

A special ‘Smriti Udyan’ (Memorial Garden) is also being developed within the premises. This serene space will honour the bravery and sacrifice of India’s naval heroes, offering visitors a peaceful setting to reflect and pay tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives in service to the nation.

The Shaurya Museum promises to be more than just a tourist attraction—it will be a symbol of national pride, military history, and a beacon of inspiration for generations to come.
