Shail Utsav All India Sculptor Camp from 14th October

Eight-day All India Contemporary Sculpture Camp from 14th to 21st October 2024 at Faculty of Architecture and Planning.

Inauguration of the camp on 14th October 2024. At 11 am at Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Tagore Marg Campus.

Lucknow: “Shail-Utsav” means festival of artifacts made of stone. Whose aim is to bring the traditional and contemporary art of sculpture closer to the common people. With the cooperation of Lucknow Development Authority and under the joint aegis of Faculty of Architecture and Planning, “Shail Utsav” eight-day All India Sculptor Camp is being organized in the capital from 14th to 21st October 2024.

This camp was inaugurated on 14th October 2024, Monday at the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Tagore Marg Campus of the capital. This camp was inaugurated by the chief guest, senior sculptor  Pandey Rajivnayan (Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts and Performing Arts, Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow).

The camp’s curator Dr. Vandana Sehgal said that 10 contemporary sculptors (male and female) from five states of the country (New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat) are participating in the camp. Sculptor Girish Pandey – Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Pankaj Kumar – Patna, Bihar, Shailesh Mohan Ojha – New Delhi, Rajesh Kumar – New Delhi, Santo Kumar Choubey – New Delhi, Ajay Kumar – Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Awadhesh Kumar – Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Mukesh Verma – Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Avni Patel – Surat, Gujarat, Nidhi Sabhaya – Ahmedabad, Gujarat and 6 carvers (associate artists) from Rajasthan are participating.

The camp’s co-coordinator Bhupendra Kumar Asthana said that this camp will run for eight days in the Faculty of Architecture campus. Anyone can observe the artworks being made by the artists in the camp. This camp will play an important role in the beautification of Lucknow and will also become a major center of attraction for art lovers. All the art works made in the camp will be new and will be the creative form of the ideas of contemporary artists and the artists will give concrete form to their ideas through stone.

Bhupendra Kumar Asthana, Dheeraj Yadav, Juwairiya Kamruddin will be the coordinators of the camp and Ratnapriya and photographer Harshit Singh will be there for camp documentation.
