Shahjahanpur: In light of the rising water levels in the Garra and Khannaut rivers, District Magistrate Dharmendra and Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi carried out a ground inspection of flood-affected areas along with other officials and staff. The inspection was aimed at assessing the situation and ensuring preparedness for any emergency.
During the visit, the District Magistrate directed that constant monitoring of the river levels be maintained and that teams deployed in flood-affected regions remain on high alert. He further instructed that residents of low-lying areas be regularly cautioned and that swift relief and rescue operations be guaranteed in case of an emergency.
Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi emphasized that awareness campaigns should be intensified to encourage people living near the rivers to move to safer locations. He also ordered increased patrolling in sensitive areas and stressed on close coordination between the police and administrative teams during disaster situations.
Additional SP (City) further directed that immediate and effective action be taken in case of any untoward incident.
The administration and police have jointly appealed to the public not to pay attention to rumors and instead rely on official information regarding the river water levels. Citizens have been urged to remain in contact with local authorities and strictly follow the guidelines issued by the administration.
Security measures have been strengthened, including continuous monitoring of water levels, deployment of alert teams in vulnerable areas, and intensified patrolling in sensitive zones. Disaster management arrangements have also been reinforced to ensure prompt rescue and relief operations, should the situation escalate.
