Islamabad: Shaheen Afridi etched his name in history by becoming the first Pakistani bowler to claim 100 wickets across all international cricket formats. The milestone was achieved during the first T20I against South Africa in Durban, where Shaheen’s brilliant spell of 3/22 included key dismissals of Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, and Nqabayomzi Peter.
With this feat, the 24-year-old left-arm pacer joined the elite ranks of bowlers like Tim Southee, Shakib Al Hasan, and Lasith Malinga. He also became the third Pakistani to reach 100 T20I wickets, after Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf, achieving the milestone in his 74th T20I match—the second-fastest for Pakistan.
Shaheen now boasts 116 Test wickets, 112 ODI wickets, and 100 T20I wickets, solidifying his status as one of Pakistan’s finest. Despite his heroic efforts, Pakistan fell short by 11 runs in their chase of 184, with Mohammad Rizwan’s valiant 74 going in vain.
