Lucknow: The Department of Surgical Gastroenterology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) organized a special programme to showcase the complex, multi-disciplinary coordination and step-by-step processes involved in the successful multi-organ harvest from a brain-dead donor.
The event began with a welcome address by Professor Supriya Sharma, who emphasized the importance of collective efforts in ensuring round-the-clock advanced transplant services. She highlighted the swift and efficient response of the organ retrieval team during critical situations.
A short skit depicting the team’s rapid response during organ retrieval calls, along with a musical tribute by transplant nursing staff and OT attendants, added an emotional and meaningful dimension to the programme.
