Karnailganj (Gonda): A major controversy has erupted in Gonda district after Mohan Tiwari, a resident of Bardaha village under the 298 Karnailganj Assembly constituency, accused current BJP MLA Ajay Singh of harassment and falsely implicating his family in criminal cases.
In his complaint, Mohit Tiwari alleged that the MLA and his supporters have been subjecting his family to continuous social, economic, and political harassment. He claimed they are being prevented from living in their own house, built on land lawfully owned through a bainama (registered sale deed). Tiwari further stated that attempts were made to shut down his petrol pump and even cancel the residence certificates of his elder brother Rahul Tiwari and sister-in-law Sadhana Tiwari.
According to Tiwari, under the MLA’s influence, a false FIR was registered against him under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and other serious charges. Expressing concern for his safety, he said, “My life is in danger; anything could happen at any moment.”

The victim has met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, submitting a written complaint and seeking justice. Following the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Gonda Superintendent of Police to conduct an investigation into the matter.
Tiwari added that since he opposed the MLA’s alleged encroachment on government land in 2023, his family has been continuously targeted through fabricated cases and political pressure. He appealed for protection and fair investigation into the ongoing harassment.
