Senior Journalist K. Vikram Rao Remembered for Championing the Cause of Working Journalists Nationwide

Lucknow: A solemn tribute was paid to veteran journalist and national president of the Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ), Dr. K. Vikram Rao, by the Uttar Pradesh Accredited Correspondents Committee (UPACC) following his demise earlier this week. A condolence meeting held at the Annexe Media Centre brought together senior journalists who remembered Dr. Rao’s unwavering dedication to journalistic ethics and his relentless advocacy for the rights of working journalists across India.

Dr. Rao passed away on Monday morning at a private hospital in Lucknow, leaving behind a profound legacy in the field of journalism. Recalling his decades-long contribution, speakers at the memorial called his death an “irreparable loss” to the fraternity. Committee Secretary Bharat Singh urged journalists present to share their memories and experiences of working with or being influenced by Dr. Rao.

Speakers noted that Dr. Rao was more than just a journalist—he was a movement. His work highlighted issues faced by working journalists, particularly labor rights, and he remained a steadfast voice against injustice throughout his career. His life epitomized principled journalism, bold writing, and an uncompromising commitment to truth.

The meeting was presided over by UPACC President Hemant Tiwari. Among those who spoke and shared their memories were senior journalists Vijay Shankar Pankaj, Rakesh Pandey, Pradyuman Tiwari, Rajeev Vajpayee, Premkant Tiwari, Dr. Kalanidhi Mishra, Bhaskar Dubey, C.K. Sharma, Manmohan, T.V. Singh, Devki Nandan Mishra, and Siddharth Kalhans.
