Seminar and Rally Held in Rae Bareli to Mark World Day Against Child Labour

Rae Bareli: As part of the week-long observance of the World Day Against Child Labour, a rally and seminar were successfully organised today in the industrial area of Mill Area, Rae Bareli. The initiative, which ran from June 12 to June 17 across the district, culminated with a strong message advocating the eradication of child labour and promotion of child education.

The event was presided over by Milind Dwivedi, Member, Child Welfare Committee, Rae Bareli. In his address, he noted that during field visits in the district, child labour cases were not prominently visible. However, in cases where such instances are observed, efforts are being made to sensitize parents and guardians about the importance of sending children to school instead of work.

Labour Enforcement Officer, Man Singh Kushwaha, emphasized the significance of the day, urging society to prioritize education over child labour. “Children should be in schools, not workplaces. Only through education can they secure a better future,” he stated.

Assistant Labour Commissioner, R.L. Swarnkar, stressed that child labour is a deep-rooted social issue that can only be tackled through widespread awareness. He informed attendees that the Labour Department has consistently been working to raise awareness and is actively prosecuting employers who engage in child labour under the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986.

Social workers Ajay Bajpai and Suresh Kumar Rawat jointly stated that raising awareness remains the most effective tool against child labour. They called for more awareness drives to be conducted at regular intervals.

A signature campaign was also held during the event, with officials, guests, and members of the public pledging their support towards the elimination of child labour.

The seminar was moderated by S.S. Pandey, and the vote of thanks was presented by K.D. Pandey, Senior Assistant. Among those present were Sadhana Yadav, Shailendra Yadav, Ravi Pushpak, Mahendra Gautam, Mohd. Asif Khan, Amar Bahadur, Vivek Maurya, Radheshyam, Baljeet Yadav, Tahmeen Bano, and other concerned citizens.

The event concluded with a strong message that child labour must end, and collective efforts from all sections of society are essential to ensure that every child receives their right to education and a dignified life.
