Second Day of Lucknow Book Fair: Youth Drawn to Bhagat Singh and Diverse Literary Works

Lucknow: The Lucknow Book Fair at Ravindralay, Charbagh saw bustling activity on its second day, with a mix of spiritual literature and revolutionary works capturing the attention of young readers. Among the popular titles was “Main Nastik Hoon” by Bhagat Singh, alongside books on Vedic mathematics for children and contemporary literary collections.

With free entry and a minimum 10% discount on all books, the fair attracted a large number of teachers, school administrators, and literature enthusiasts throughout the day. Narendra Singh, an official from the National Book Trust, noted strong sales not only for Hindi and children’s books but also for Urdu publications, reflecting the fair’s wide appeal.

The day featured multiple book releases and discussions. Under the auspices of NavSrijan Prakashan, chaired by Mahesh Chandra Dwivedi, several works were inaugurated, including:

  • “Ek Cup Chai” – short story collection by Manju Saxena
  • “Chhaya Basant Rehe” – poetry collection by Shrikrishna Dwivedi Dwijesh
  • “Avadh Ka Lok Itihas” – essay collection by Hemant Kumar
  • “Naman” – song collection by Dr. Sushma Soumya
  • “Mere Ashtapadi Ageet” – poetry collection by Anil Kishore Shukla
  • “Titliyon Ke Desh Mein” – ghazal collection by Manorama Srivastava

The releases were attended by notable figures including Manu Vajpeyi, Dr. Yogesh, Devesh Dwivedi, and Dr. Sudha Mishra.

In addition, discussions on Dr. Shipra Chaturvedi’s “German Folktales”, and story collections such as “Beti”, “Kaspar Hauser”, and “Heidi” engaged readers in literary discourse, while students Abhay, Admy, Pranjal, and Srishti performed dramatizations of selected stories.

Dr. Ashwini Kumar Malhotra conducted a session on his book “Ek Doctor Ki Kalam Se”, discussing it and two other works with the audience, joined by Jaishree. Architect Vipul Varshney also launched his book on temples of Avadh, in a session chaired by Padma Shri Dr. Vidya Vindu Singh and moderated by Chandra Shekhar Verma, featuring literary insights from Dr. Anand Prakash Memaheshwari, writer Vipul Varshney, and Alka Pramod, who contributed the Hindi preface.

The day concluded with a poetry session organised by Sahitya Sadhak Sanstha, rounding off an eventful second day of literary engagement at the fair.
