Second Bomb Threat Email to Lucknow Court in Three Days Triggers High Alert

Lucknow: The district court complex in the state capital was placed on high alert  after authorities received another email threatening to blow up the premises — the second such warning in three days. The message reportedly referenced Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, prompting an immediate and multi-layered security response. However, no suspicious object or individual was found during the extensive search operation.

Police teams, bomb disposal squads, and sniffer dog units were swiftly deployed to the court complex. Entry and exit points were sealed, and every visitor, lawyer, and staff member underwent thorough screening. Courtrooms, record rooms, parking areas, the bar association block, and other public sections were searched using both manual and technical methods.

Officials said the entire premises operated under a temporary high-alert protocol while the search was underway. Surveillance in adjoining areas was intensified as a precaution. Court proceedings continued during the operation, though delays were reported due to enhanced security checks.

The latest alert follows a similar email threat received on Friday, which had also triggered a large-scale search that found no explosives. With two warnings in quick succession, investigators are now closely examining the technical trail of the emails. The cyber cell has been tasked with tracing the origin of the messages, including server data, IP logs, and routing patterns.

Police sources indicated that such threats are often hoaxes aimed at creating panic, but emphasized that sensitive installations like court complexes cannot afford to take any warning lightly. Security arrangements at the Lucknow District Court are being reviewed, with additional personnel deployed at entry gates and CCTV monitoring tightened.

Authorities are also coordinating with other districts after similar email threats were reported at court complexes in Meerut, Aligarh, Azamgarh, and Amroha. The pattern has raised concerns about a possible coordinated attempt to disrupt judicial functioning and spread fear.

Officials confirmed that no explosive materials were recovered and that the situation remains under control. Nevertheless, the repeated threats have renewed discussions on strengthening permanent security measures, including stricter access control systems, baggage scanners, and enhanced cyber monitoring of threat communications.

Lawyers and litigants have been advised to cooperate with security personnel and report any unattended object or suspicious activity immediately. Police have urged the public to avoid spreading rumors and rely only on verified information.

Investigators said digital forensic analysis is ongoing to identify those responsible. Once traced, legal action will be initiated under relevant provisions related to criminal intimidation, cyber offences, and threats to public safety.
