Lucknow : In a shocking incident late Wednesday night, a Scorpio SUV crashed into a house near Sankalp Vatika, along the Gomti river in Lucknow, leaving two residents seriously injured.
The out-of-control Scorpio bore a Uttarakhand registration number and had a Block Pramukh sticker prominently displayed on its windshield of a major political party. A beer bottle was visibly placed on the SUV’s dashboard, raising strong suspicions of drunk driving.
Eyewitnesses claim that three young men and a woman were inside the vehicle and appeared to be heavily intoxicated at the time of the crash. Following the incident, two of the men and the woman fled the scene, leaving behind an injured companion, who has since been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
The impact caused significant damage to the house and left two residents seriously hurt. Locals gathered at the site in anger, demanding strict action against the accused.
Police arrived promptly at the scene and have initiated an investigation. The Scorpio has been seized and efforts are underway to trace the absconding individuals. Authorities are also verifying the ownership of the vehicle and the authenticity of the political sticker displayed.
As the matter involves suspected drunk driving, injury to civilians, and misuse of political insignia, senior officials have been briefed, and further action is expected soon.
