Prayagraj: In a major step towards strengthening emergency trauma care in Prayagraj, SaveLIFE Foundation in collaboration with Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd. handed over emergency care equipment at Community Health Centres (CHCs), Jasra and Chaka.
An initiative under the Zero Fatality District (ZFD) Programme, the upgraded emergency care equipment will empower both CHCs to function as Trauma Stabilisation Facilities for road crash victims and other emergency trauma cases, particularly during the critical “golden hour” following a crash.
As a part of this program, an event was organised at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Jasra, Prayagraj District, Uttar Pradesh, on 17th December 2025. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Ankita Pandey, Medical Superintendent, Community Health Centre, Jasra, Mr. Devang Pandya, Vice President & Lead – CSR & Sustainability, Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd, and representatives from SaveLIFE Foundation.
Dr RC Pandey, Additional Chief Medical Officer, Prayagraj, highlighted, “Appropriate trauma care during the initial hours after a road crash can make a significant difference in patient outcomes. We are thankful to SaveLIFE Foundation for upgrading the emergency care equipment at CHCs Jasra and Chaka. We are sure this initiative will strengthen our healthcare team capabilities to stabilise patients and manage emergency trauma cases more effectively.”
At the CHC level, the emergency care equipment will ensure faster treatment closer to the site of incidents, thus improving survival outcomes for victims in Jasra, Chaka, and surrounding areas. This upgrade will ensure that trauma patients arriving at the CHCs receive timely stabilisation and resuscitation before being referred to a higher center for definitive treatment.
In the last four years, i.e. 2022-2025, CHC Jasra has tended to 188 crash-related cases, of which 96 were fatal crashes, resulting in 104 fatalities. During the same period, CHC Chaka has tended to 776 crash-related cases, of which 184 were fatal crashes, resulting in 205 fatalities.

Devang Pandya, Vice President & Lead – CSR & Sustainability, Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd, said, “Road safety requires a coordinated approach that goes beyond prevention to include strong post-crash response systems. Through this CSR initiative in partnership with SaveLIFE Foundation, we are committed to supporting interventions that strengthen on-ground emergency response and contribute to safer roads for all.”
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Piyush Tewari, Founder and CEO, SaveLIFE Foundation said, “To save lives in road crashes, It is critical to strengthen emergency care at the district level. The initiative of upgrading trauma care capabilities of CHCs will ensure that road crash victims receive timely and appropriate care closer to where crashes occur. This intervention under the Zero Fatality District Programme is a step towards reducing preventable casualties and building a more responsive emergency care system.”
With this initiative, SaveLIFE Foundation has further strengthened its commitment to improving road safety and emergency response systems in Uttar Pradesh and across India. By focusing on improving access to timely and effective trauma care, the initiative will lower the overall burden of road crash fatalities on individuals, families, and the public health system.
