Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to swiftly identify suitable land in every district of Uttar Pradesh for the establishment of the proposed ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment and Industrial Zone’, an ambitious initiative aimed at directly linking industrial development with employment generation.
Chairing a key meeting in Lucknow, the Chief Minister said the scheme, announced on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Day, reflects the state government’s vision of creating an enabling ecosystem where skill development, employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities are available under one integrated framework. He instructed that the project be implemented effectively, keeping in mind local needs and regional potential.

CM Yogi emphasized that the state’s industrial policy is focused on building such comprehensive hubs that empower youth with training, industry exposure and livelihood opportunities at a single location. He described the Employment and Industrial Zone as a significant step toward integrating industry, skill development, employment and industry-support services.
Highlighting the need to encourage MSMEs, service-based industries and innovation-driven sectors, the Chief Minister stressed the development of modern infrastructure such as plug-and-play units and flatted factories, which would enable entrepreneurs to start operations with minimal initial hurdles.
During the meeting, officials informed that under the scheme, facilities such as Common Facility Centres (CFCs), testing facilities, display and design centres, tool rooms, ETP/CETP systems, plug-and-play units and flatted factories will be developed. Alongside this, arrangements will be made for entrepreneurship training, mentoring, dissemination of information on various loan schemes and handholding support for youth from the same campus.

It was further shared that the project is proposed to be implemented in a phased manner across all districts of the state. Each district will have a minimum of 50 acres earmarked for the development of the Employment and Industrial Zone.
The proposed layout of the zone includes a balanced mix of industrial areas, flatted factories, commercial zones, road networks, common facilities, service sectors, green areas and office spaces. Additionally, the establishment of a ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment and Skill Development Centre’ is also proposed, which will house training halls, conference rooms, extension counters and industry-support services.
Under the operational model, provisions will be made for self-employment and entrepreneurship training, skill development programmes, internships, apprenticeships and wage-based employment in related industries.
Concluding the meeting, CM Yogi said that the ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Employment and Industrial Zone’ will emerge as a strong hub for employment, skills and entrepreneurship for the youth of Uttar Pradesh. He directed officials to expedite the identification of potential sites and accelerate implementation, so that the initiative can become an effective model for industrial growth and job creation in the state.
