Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the teachings and inspiration of Sant Shiromani Sadguru Ravidas continue to guide society towards public welfare, social harmony, and national unity. He was addressing a gathering at the 649th birth anniversary celebrations of Sant Ravidas held at the Sant Ravidas Math in Barabirwa, Kanpur Road, Lucknow.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated the statue of Sant Ravidas and a newly constructed auditorium at the Math. Describing saints as a unifying force in society, CM Yogi said that even after 649 years, the divine aura and message of Sant Ravidas are illuminating the path towards building “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”

Recalling the historical context of Sant Ravidas’ life, the Chief Minister said that the saint appeared on earth at a time when the country was distressed by foreign invasions. Despite this, Sant Ravidas transformed spiritual practice into “karma sadhana,” emphasizing purity of mind, the dignity of labour, and unwavering commitment to public welfare. He noted that Sant Ravidas’ philosophy encouraged people to lead lives rooted in action, moral conduct, and social responsibility.
Quoting the famous saying “Man changa to kathauti mein Ganga,” CM Yogi stressed that human life is governed by one’s deeds. He said that after receiving initiation from Jagadguru Ramanandacharya, Sant Ravidas worked tirelessly to eliminate social divisions through devotion and action. He also highlighted that Ramanandacharya had disciples from different castes, underscoring the inclusive nature of India’s spiritual tradition.
The Chief Minister said that Sant Ravidas envisioned an ideal system of governance where no one sleeps hungry and everyone lives with dignity. He remarked that although the saint’s message was ignored during various historical periods, it has found renewed expression after 2014 through welfare-oriented policies. Initiatives such as bank accounts for the poor, housing, toilets, free ration, cooking gas, electricity connections, and healthcare facilities reflect the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” which he said is deeply rooted in Sant Ravidas’ teachings.

CM Yogi also spoke about the government’s efforts to honor great personalities through infrastructure development. He highlighted the transformation of Sant Ravidas’ birthplace at Seer Goverdhan in Kashi, now connected by four-lane roads and equipped with modern facilities, including a large langar hall.
Warning against divisive forces, the Chief Minister urged people to remain united and draw inspiration from saints to safeguard the country’s unity and sovereignty. He also extended greetings on the occasion of Magh Purnima, praying for the well-being of all.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, public representatives, and members of Sant Ravidas Seva Samiti were present at the event.
