Samajwadi Party Pays Tribute to Gond Warrior Queen Rani Durgavati on Her 462nd Martyrdom Day

Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party observed the 462nd martyrdom day of the legendary Gond warrior queen, Maharani Durgavati, with solemn reverence at the party’s state headquarters in Lucknow today.

Party President and former Chief Minister  Akhilesh Yadav led the tribute by garlanding the portrait of Maharani Durgavati and offering heartfelt respects. Speaking on the occasion,  Yadav lauded the queen’s extraordinary courage and leadership, stating, “Maharani Durgavati displayed unmatched valor in protecting the sovereignty and pride of her kingdom, Garha Mandla—modern-day Jabalpur. She ruled for 16 years and was also known for her contributions to social welfare, including the construction of temples, monasteries, wells, stepwells, and dharamshalas.”

The event was marked by the presence of several notable leaders and community members. Among those who offered floral tributes were Vyasji Gond, National President of the Scheduled Caste Cell, Advocate Vijay Gond, Dr. Vinod Master, Advocate Janardan Gond, Jagdish Gond, Rajveer Katheria, Advocate Ghanshyam Prasad, Awadhesh Kumar, Murari Kashyap, Dr. Govind Ram, Satish Verma, Dr. Magroob Qureshi, DRS Yav, Shobhit Verma, Raja Man Singh, and Brijesh Singh Bachelor, among others.

On behalf of the party’s youth wing, State Secretary of Yuvjan Sabha,  Lakshmi Nath Kashyap, presented a statue of Maharani Durgavati to the party president. Pankaj Singh, National Secretary of the Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade, also offered a special token—a Samajwadi mango, symbolizing the party’s grassroots connection and unity.

The occasion served as a moment of reflection and inspiration, celebrating the legacy of one of India’s most revered women warriors and reinforcing the values of bravery, resilience, and commitment to justice.
