RPF Jawan Killed in High-Speed Bus Collision on Jhinghaghat Bypass in Bahraich

Bahraich: An officer of the Railway Protection Force was killed in a road accident after a speeding private passenger bus rammed into his motorcycle near the Jhinghaghat Bypass in Bahraich on Sunday morning, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Virendra Kumar Singh (55), who was posted with the RPF and was on his way to duty when the accident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Ramgaon police station.

According to officials, Singh, a resident of Dauhra village under the Fakharpur police station area, was travelling on his motorcycle to the district headquarters. When he reached the Jhinghaghat Bypass, a speeding and allegedly uncontrolled private passenger bus hit his bike with great force.

The impact of the collision threw him onto the road, leaving him critically injured. On receiving information, police personnel from the Ramgaon police station rushed to the spot and immediately shifted him to a nearby medical college for treatment.

Doctors at the hospital, however, declared him dead after examination.

The tragic incident has left the victim’s family in deep shock. Singh was originally a resident of Achhauliya Dahoura village in the Ranipur police station area but had been living with his family in the Saraswati Nagar locality under Dehat Kotwali limits in Bahraich.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination.

D.P. Tiwari said that efforts are underway to trace the bus involved in the accident. “CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the vehicle and its driver,” he added.
