New Delhi: Fullback Rohit has been named captain of India’s 18-member junior men’s hockey team for the upcoming Sultan of Johor Cup. India will kick off their campaign on 11 October against Great Britain.
Under Rohit’s leadership, the team, which won bronze in the previous edition, aims to enhance its medal prospects this year. India’s subsequent matches include New Zealand on 12 October, Pakistan on 14 October, Australia on 15 October, and a round-robin final match against hosts Malaysia on 17 October.
Junior men’s hockey coach P.R. Shreejesh stated, “Our team has prepared well for the Sultan of Johor Cup. This tournament is an excellent opportunity for our juniors to test themselves against strong teams ahead of the Junior Hockey World Cup and gain valuable experience.”
