Rohilkhand University Wins Bronze at All India Inter-University Sepak Takraw Championship

Bareilly – Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University has brought laurels to the region by securing a bronze medal in the All India Inter-University Sepak Takraw Championship (Men’s category) for the academic session 2025–26.

The prestigious tournament was held from March 11 to March 14, 2026, at Assam University, where top university teams from across the country competed in a high-level sporting contest. Demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, the Rohilkhand University team clinched the bronze medal in the quadrant event, marking a significant achievement at the national level.

The medal-winning team comprised Yogesh Pandey from R.P.D.C. Meerganj, Jatin Singh, Aryan Yadav, and Uvesh Khan from Khusro PG College, Ashmit Kumar and Satish Kumar Maurya from Baba Farid College, Faridpur. The players displayed remarkable coordination, determination, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, contributing to the team’s success.

Following their achievement, the victorious players presented the trophy to Sports Secretary S S Bedi at the university’s sports department. The occasion was marked by a sense of pride and celebration among the athletes and faculty members.

Vice-Chancellor K P Singh congratulated the team on their achievement, stating that the success reflects the players’ hard work, discipline, and consistent practice. He emphasized that students of the university have been performing commendably at the national level, strengthening the institution’s reputation in sports.

Expressing his happiness, Sports Secretary S. S. Bedi praised the team for their talent, dedication, and strong team spirit. He added that such performances inspire future athletes and raise expectations for continued excellence in upcoming competitions.

Registrar Harish Chandra also extended his congratulations to the players and wished them success in their future endeavors, calling the achievement a matter of pride for the entire university community.

Several faculty members and officials, including Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Inderpreet Kaur, Dr. Iram Naeem, Dr. Vijay Singhal, Dharmendra Sharma, team manager Lucky, and coach Deepak, were present on the occasion to celebrate the accomplishment.

The university campus is witnessing an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm following this success, with students and faculty alike expressing pride in the team’s outstanding performance on the national stage.
