Bareilly: Students of Rohilkhand University have started commercial cultivation and sales of oyster mushrooms following a training program conducted by the Plant Science and Agriculture Departments under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Professor K.P. Singh.
According to mushroom expert and instructor Dr. Vijay Kumar Singhal, the Mushroom Cultivation Training Camp equipped students with practical skills, enabling them to form Experiential Learning Groups. These groups collectively grow mushrooms and sell them both in local markets and on the online platform Blinkit, generating income while promoting self-employment.
B.Sc. Agriculture student Abhishek Patel shared that he and his team invested ₹3,000 in oyster mushroom cultivation and have already sold produce worth ₹7,000. Similarly, students Gaurav Gole, Keshav Kumar, Mukhtiar, and Mohit invested around ₹3,500 and sold mushrooms valued at ₹5,000 to G.F.E. Samadhan Enterprises. Production is ongoing, with more yield expected in the coming weeks.

The initiative reflects Rohilkhand University’s commitment to fostering self-employment and entrepreneurial skills among students. With such projects, the university aims to gradually establish itself as a hub for student-led self-employment and production initiatives.
