Lucknow: In a significant step to strengthen medical facilities, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) and the Cerebral Palsy Association of India (CPAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday.
This collaboration aims to enhance surgical care, rehabilitation, and collaborative research for children affected by cerebral palsy, particularly focusing on bone and muscle-related issues.
On the occasion, a specialized Orthopedic Cerebral Palsy OPD was inaugurated in Room No. 22 of the institute. The OPD will operate every Wednesday and provide dedicated services for children with cerebral palsy, including consultations, physiotherapy, orthotic support, and surgical guidance from a team of expert doctors.
The inauguration was attended by RMLIMS Director Prof. C.M. Singh; Dr. Manjusha Singh, Secretary of CPAI; Sunny Bhatia, Coordinator of CP Clinic; Prof. Vikram Singh, Chief Medical Officer; Prof. (Dr.) Pradyumn Kumar, Dean; Prof. Subrat Chandra, Registrar; Prof. Deepak Kumar, Head of Orthopedics Department; Prof. Vineet Kumar; Prof. Swagat Mahapatra; along with other doctors, CPAI core team members, volunteers, and parents of children with cerebral palsy.

During the event, specially designed orthotic braces were distributed to children who had recently undergone successful orthopedic surgeries. These braces are expected to support walking and improve daily activities.
Through this joint initiative, CPAI and RMLIMS have opened a new chapter in cerebral palsy care, promising positive transformations in the lives of hundreds of children and their families in the coming years.
