RML Hosts Orientation Ceremony for New Nursing Batch, Emphasizes Compassion and Dedication

Lucknow — The Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) celebrated the lamp lighting ceremony for its new 2025 nursing batch on Friday, marking the beginning of their journey into the noble profession of nursing. The ceremony highlighted the values of service, compassion, and dedication, which are central to the nursing profession.

Ceremony Highlights

Chief Guest Dr. Jyotsna Agrawal addressed the students, stressing that “Nursing is not just a profession but a lifelong commitment to serving humanity. May this sacred lamp always inspire you to serve selflessly.”

Prof. Pradyumn Singh, Dean, emphasized that while medical science advances, it is compassion and human touch that complete the healing process. Medical Superintendent Dr. Arvind Singh encouraged the students, stating that “discipline, hard work, and dedication will make you pillars of patient care.”

Chief Nursing Officer Suman Singh remarked, “A nurse’s kind words and empathetic touch are often the patient’s first medicine.” Nursing College Chairman Dr. Dharmendra Srivastava described the lamp lighting as “the initiation of a lifelong journey of service, sacrifice, and excellence.”

Dr. Bhuvan Tiwari, Head of Cardiology, inspired the students further, saying, “Nurses are the backbone of the hospital. Where doctors prescribe treatment, nurses complete it with care and compassion. Your discipline and empathy turn a building into a home of healing and humanity.”

Awards and Recognition

Outstanding students and faculty members were honored for their academic and teaching excellence. Florence Nightingale Excellence Awards were presented to Suman Singh (CNO) and Rakhi J. Nair (ANS). Academic excellence awards went to B.Sc Nursing students Akshita Shukla, Akansha Srivastava, Shreya Patel, Aditi Rai, Adya Mishra, and Sakshi Dayal, while Ayush Masiih, Madhusudan Singh, Shubham Singh, Divya, Gunjan, and Farheen Bano received recognition for their exceptional contributions.

The event concluded with students taking the nursing pledge, reaffirming their commitment to uphold the dignity of the profession. Inspired by Florence Nightingale’s footsteps, the new batch embarked on their journey of compassionate care and service to humanity.
