Lucknow : Samrat Chauhan, the State Secretary of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), has written a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, highlighting the plight of mango farmers in the state following the recent devastating storms.
In his letter, Chauhan expressed concern over the widespread damage caused by severe storms in Lucknow and various other regions across Uttar Pradesh, which have ravaged mango orchards and disrupted trade. He stated that this calamity has inflicted severe financial losses on both farmers and traders who depend heavily on the mango harvest for their livelihood.
He particularly pointed out the Malihabad and Sarojini Nagar regions of Lucknow, where the damage has been extensive. These areas are renowned for their rich and diverse mango produce, and serve as major supply hubs for mango distribution across the state. According to Chauhan, a significant section of the local population in these regions relies solely on mango cultivation for their sustenance.

Chauhan emphasized that the affected farmers must be compensated for their crop loss to ensure their families can continue to survive. “If timely compensation is not provided, many farming families will be pushed to the brink of starvation,” he warned.
He urged the Chief Minister to initiate a survey of the affected regions and arrange for appropriate compensation for the damaged mango crops, in order to safeguard the interests of the state’s farming community.
