Bareilly: A district-level review meeting of the Jal Jeevan Mission was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Avinash Singh to assess the progress of ongoing drinking water projects.
During the meeting, Executive Engineer (Rural), Jal Nigam, Kumkum Gangwar informed that work is underway on a total of 876 drinking water schemes across the district. Out of these, construction of 403 overhead tanks has been completed. Against a total of 1,805 villages, regular drinking water supply has commenced in 1,211 villages.
She further stated that against the annual target of providing 4,81,138 household tap connections, 4,75,996 connections have already been completed. Similarly, 8,346 km of pipeline has been laid against the total target of 8,629 km. Additionally, operation and maintenance (O&M) work is being carried out for 82 drinking water schemes.
Reviewing the progress, the District Magistrate directed officials to prioritize completion of schemes that have achieved over 90 percent progress and bring them under O&M at the earliest. He also instructed that weekly targets be fixed for O&M of 260 schemes and adequate labour and fitters be deployed to ensure timely completion.
Officials were directed to prepare tehsil-wise lists of villages where works have been completed for verification. Similarly, tehsil-wise lists of schemes with over 80 percent progress are to be submitted so that nodal officers can be appointed for close monitoring.

The District Magistrate further instructed M/s NCC Limited to provide block-wise and project-wise details of deployed staff in Bareilly. He emphasized that the ‘Jal Arpan’ programme for completed schemes must be planned and completed by March 22.
Chief Development Officer Devyani, Executive Engineer (Rural) Jal Nigam, DGM of NCC Limited, DPM of the third-party agency, and other officials were present at the meeting.
