Review Meeting and Training Session Held for Census 2027 Preparations in Lucknow

Lucknow: A review meeting on preparations for Census 2027 along with a comprehensive training session for charge officers was held today at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate  Vishakh G. The session focused on ensuring the smooth and systematic conduct of the upcoming national census exercise, with detailed guidelines issued to all concerned officials.

Addressing the meeting, the District Magistrate, who is also the Principal Census Officer for the district, emphasized the importance of meticulous planning, accuracy, and timely execution of all census-related activities. He highlighted that Census 2027 is a significant administrative exercise that requires coordinated efforts at every level to ensure credible and error-free data collection.

During the session, the District Magistrate reviewed the digital tools developed for Census 2027, including the CMMS portal and the HLBC (House Listing Block Creation) system. A live demonstration of these platforms was presented to provide hands-on exposure to officers. The District Magistrate directed all charge officers and concerned personnel to become thoroughly proficient in the use of these digital tools and to utilize them effectively to complete assigned tasks within the stipulated timelines.

Officials informed the chair that the first phase of the census—House Listing and Housing Census—will be conducted between May 22 and June 20, 2026. Special emphasis was laid on the formation of House Listing Blocks (HLBs) in urban areas, particularly within the Municipal Corporation limits. The District Magistrate instructed officials to exercise utmost caution during field surveys to ensure that there is neither omission nor duplication of any area while forming blocks. He underlined that accuracy at the block formation stage is crucial to avoid discrepancies in later stages of enumeration.

The training session was conducted by the Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue), who also serves as the District Census Officer. The team from the Census Directorate provided detailed technical training on the use of digital tools and operational protocols.

Representing the Census Directorate,  A.K. Singh Somvanshi (Joint Director),  Upasana (Assistant Director),  Kumar Satyam (Assistant Director), Ramesh Kumar Pandey (Statistical Investigator), and  Anand Kumar (Assistant Research Officer) elaborated on various technical aspects, including data entry procedures, portal management, monitoring mechanisms, and troubleshooting methods.

The session witnessed the participation of charge officers from all tehsils of the district, tehsildars, executive officers, zonal officers of the Municipal Corporation, and their respective census assistants. The presence of senior administrative and field-level officers reflected the district administration’s commitment to conducting Census 2027 in an organized, transparent, and efficient manner.

Concluding the meeting, the District Magistrate reiterated that adherence to timelines, precision in data collection, and effective use of digital platforms will be the key pillars of a successful census operation in Lucknow.
