42 Beneficiaries Receive Support at Lucknow TB Hospital
Lucknow: A nutrition distribution drive was organised for tuberculosis (TB) patients at the TB Hospital in Thakurganj under the initiative adopted by the Indian Red Cross Society. The event marked the second month of nutritional support being provided to TB patients adopted by the organisation in October.
Led by Amarnath Mishra, Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Lucknow branch, the team distributed nutrition kits to 42 TB patients, aiming to strengthen their immunity and support their recovery.
Addressing the patients, Mishra said, “TB is a completely curable disease. All you need is regular treatment and proper nutrition. Keep your morale high, take your medicines on time, and eat nutritious food. The Indian Red Cross Society stands firmly with you.”
Dr. Ravi Shekhar also encouraged the patients, stressing that both prevention and treatment of TB are achievable. He said, “Awareness, timely medication, and healthy food are the keys to recovery. Never discontinue treatment midway and always follow the doctor’s advice. A healthy life is your right, and we are committed to helping you achieve it.”
During the programme, the medical team educated patients and their caregivers about TB, emphasising the importance of completing the full course of treatment, practising hygiene, consuming a balanced diet, and seeking immediate medical help in case of complications.
The hospital’s Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. S.P. Singh felicitated Secretary Amarnath Mishra with a certificate of appreciation for his significant contribution toward patient welfare through nutritional support. He noted that the initiative has been instrumental in helping many patients recover effectively.
The Red Cross Society reaffirmed its commitment to continuing public health and humanitarian initiatives. Dr. Singh also stated that 117 TB patients are yet to be adopted, to which Amarnath Mishra assured that committee members would take responsibility for their adoption as well.
