Kanpur: The Kanpur Book Fair, underway at the Rajkiya Inter College in Chunniganj, witnessed a remarkable surge in visitors on Sunday as literature, music and culture blended into a vibrant celebration. With free entry and a minimum 10% discount on books, the fair drew large crowds of readers, students, and literary enthusiasts, creating a lively atmosphere across stalls and event spaces.
Dalit and Buddhist Literature Draws Strong Interest
Visitors showed keen interest in books centred around Dalit and Buddhist thought.

At the Samyak Prakashan stall, titles such as “Dalit Daman Utpidan Kab Tak”, “Main Bauddh Nagri Mathura Hoon”, and various tribal magazines became major talking points.

The Constitution Prachar Samiti stall attracted readers with intellectual works like “Dharm Ka Vigyan Aur Vigyan Ka Dharm” and “Buddh Ki Vani Pal Kairas Ki Zubani.”
Literary Discussion Highlights
A special discussion was organised on journalist Dr. Manish Shukla’s novel “Main Swayamsevak” and film critic Shridhar Agnihotri’s book “Ansune Sitare.”
Hon’ble MLA Amitabh Bajpai attended the session as chief guest.
The panel featured Dr. Siddhanshu Rai, senior BJP leader Vinod Shukla, Dr. Diwakar Mishra, actor–director Chandrabhushan, and fair organiser Manoj Singh Chandel.

The highlight of the day was a soulful cultural evening titled “Dama Dam Mast Kalandar – Sufi & Romantic Musical Night,” organised at 2:30 PM. Artists from Shalini School & Cultural Society — Akash Sharma, Vishwanath, Akanksha, and Anushka — enthralled the audience with a fusion of Sufi melodies, romantic numbers, and live music, earning wide applause.
