Ravindra Sandhya 2025: An Emotional Tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath

Lucknow – The city witnessed a soul-stirring cultural evening as the Bengali Welfare Society (Bengali Adda) organized the grand annual event, “Ravindra Sandhya 2025”, at the Kaifi Azmi Academy, Nishatganj. Held in honour of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary, the event was a celebration of his timeless legacy through music, dance, and literary tributes.

The evening commenced with a heartfelt performance of Rabindra Sangeet by Paulomi Majumdar, an accomplished artist invited from Kolkata. Her soulful renditions transported the audience into the profound emotional world of Tagore’s music, capturing the very essence of his lyrical and philosophical genius.

This was followed by the captivating dance drama “Ruturango”, presented by a talented group of local performers. The production, inspired by Tagore’s thematic portrayal of the changing seasons, was a vivid expression of nature’s rhythm and human emotions, reflecting the aesthetic sensitivity characteristic of his literary works.

In a special segment of the event, two distinguished Bengali cultural icons of Lucknow were conferred with the prestigious “Ravindra Samman 2025”:

  • Mukta Chatterjee, for her immense contribution to Bengali literature and cultural promotion.

  • Pandit Amit Mukherjee, for his dedication to classical music and preservation of Bengali musical traditions.

Adding to the significance of the evening was the launch of the quarterly magazine ‘Srujan’, the first and only Bengali-language magazine published from Lucknow. This cultural publication aims to foster dialogue on art, literature, society, and tradition within the Bengali-speaking community of the city.

The presence of Ashok Ganguly, a senior Bengali social activist and the Chief Guest for the evening, added grace and depth to the event. His words echoed the importance of preserving and promoting cultural roots in a rapidly changing world.

With participation from various Bengali organizations and a host of respected dignitaries, Ravindra Sandhya 2025 emerged as more than just a tribute—it became a collective celebration of Tagore’s universal spirit. The event marked a historic chapter in Lucknow’s cultural calendar, where Gurudev’s soul, philosophy, and artistry were relived in full splendour.

As melodies faded and curtains drew, the spirit of Tagore lingered—reminding all that his words and wisdom remain eternally relevant.
