Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday dedicated the Rashtra Prerna Sthal to the nation, a grand memorial featuring towering statues of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Addressing a large gathering, the Prime Minister said the Rashtra Prerna Sthal symbolises the ideology that has guided India towards self-respect, unity and service.

He said the statues installed at the site would serve as a constant inspiration for nation-building. “This place reminds us that every step, every effort and every resolve must be dedicated to the service of the nation. Collective effort alone will fulfil the resolve of a developed India,” the Prime Minister said.

After inaugurating the Rashtra Prerna Sthal, PM Modi also visited the grand digital museum built at the site. Addressing the gathering, he said Uttar Pradesh is benefiting immensely from the double-engine government. “Uttar Pradesh is carving out a distinct identity in 21st-century India. It is my privilege to be a Member of Parliament from UP. Today, I can proudly say that the hardworking people of Uttar Pradesh are writing a new future,” he said.

The Prime Minister noted that earlier Uttar Pradesh was often discussed for poor law and order, but today it is being recognised for development and good governance. He also extended Christmas greetings to people in India and across the world, wishing peace and happiness for all.

Uttar Pradesh emerging as a model of good governance

Praising the state’s progress, PM Modi said Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging on the global tourism map. The grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the Kashi Vishwanath Dham have become symbols of the state’s renewed identity. He added that modern landmarks such as the Rashtra Prerna Sthal further strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s positive image. The Prime Minister expressed hope that UP would continue to scale new heights as a model of good governance, prosperity and true social justice.

December 25 linked to India’s great legacy

PM Modi described December 25 as a deeply inspiring day connected to India’s history and values. He recalled that Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya were born on this day and made enduring contributions to India’s unity, identity and nation-building. He also noted that December 25 marks the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bijli Pasi, whose fort near Lucknow stands as a symbol of valour, good governance and inclusive legacy. The Prime Minister recalled that Atal Ji had issued a postage stamp in honour of Maharaja Bijli Pasi in the year 2000.

Contribution of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

Highlighting Dr Mukherjee’s role, PM Modi said he played a decisive part in safeguarding India’s unity by rejecting the system of two constitutions, two flags and two heads. He said the BJP takes pride in having dismantled the barrier of Article 370, ensuring the full implementation of the Indian Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. He also recalled Dr Mukherjee’s contribution as independent India’s first Industry Minister, laying the foundation of a self-reliant industrial policy.

Antyodaya and integral humanism

The Prime Minister said Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya envisioned Antyodaya, where the progress of India is measured by the smile on the face of the last person in the queue. His philosophy of Integral Humanism, focusing on the holistic development of body, mind, intellect and soul, has been transformed into a national resolve, PM Modi said. He added that the government is working to ensure that every eligible citizen is connected to welfare schemes, which defines true good governance and social justice.

Victory over poverty and expansion of social security

PM Modi said that over the past decade, crores of Indians have overcome poverty. He pointed out that before 2014, around 25 crore people were covered under social security schemes, whereas today nearly 95 crore people benefit from such initiatives. He highlighted the impact of schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, through which thousands of crores of rupees have reached needy families. These schemes, he said, have provided insurance security to crores who earlier could not even imagine such protection.

Atal Ji’s legacy of good governance

Recalling Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s contribution, the Prime Minister said Atal Ji translated good governance into reality by laying the foundations of digital identity, telecom revolution and modern connectivity. He said India has today emerged as a global hub for mobile phones and internet usage, with Uttar Pradesh playing a leading role. He added that Atal Ji would be proud to see India become the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer over the past 11 years.

PM Modi said Uttar Pradesh, which Atal Ji represented as an MP, has now become India’s number one mobile manufacturing state. He also recalled Atal Ji’s initiatives such as the Golden Quadrilateral highway project, expansion of rural roads and the launch of metro services, which continue to shape modern India.

Sharp attack on dynastic politics

Launching a strong attack on dynastic politics, PM Modi said that for decades after independence, history and achievements were confined to one family. He said the BJP has changed this mindset and believes in honouring all contributions with dignity. He pointed out that earlier several former Prime Ministers were ignored in national memorials, a situation corrected by the NDA government through the creation of the Prime Ministers’ Museum in Delhi.

The Prime Minister said his government has honoured leaders across political lines, including conferring the Bharat Ratna on P.V. Narasimha Rao and Pranab Mukherjee, and recognising leaders such as Mulayam Singh Yadav and Tarun Gogoi with national honours. “Respect for all is part of our values,” he said, adding that this approach reflects the BJP’s commitment to inclusive national honour and democratic traditions.
