Lucknow – In a dramatic late-night encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s capital, a man accused of rape was injured in a police shootout and later arrested. The accused, who had been on the run under charges filed under the POCSO Act, was shot in the leg and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
The Encounter
According to the police, the incident occurred between the night of May 27 and the early hours of May 28. The Madiyav Police Station team, acting on a tip-off, was conducting a search operation to track down the absconding rape suspect. Information was received that the accused was spotted in the Raghuwanshi Dhaal area.
While checking vehicles in the area, police signaled a suspicious biker to stop. Instead of complying, the suspect attempted to flee at high speed and opened fire at the police team with an illegal firearm. In retaliation and self-defense, the police fired back, injuring the accused in the leg.

Identity of the Accused
The injured man was identified as Kamal Kishore alias Bhaddar, a resident of Kamiyapur, Sitapur district. He had been evading arrest in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Following the encounter, the police recovered the following items from the accused:

Further Action
The accused was immediately taken into custody, and the necessary legal formalities were completed. He was then admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway, and the accused will be questioned as soon as his health permits.
