New Delhi | Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh held bilateral discussions with the Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias, in New Delhi on Monday, reaffirming the growing India–Greece Strategic Partnership built on shared values of peace, stability, freedom, and mutual respect.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between their indigenous defence industries, aligning India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative with Greece’s defence modernisation programme under Agenda 2030. A Joint Declaration of Intent was signed to enhance defence industrial collaboration, marking the beginning of a structured five-year cooperation roadmap.
The two Defence Ministers also exchanged a Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026, outlining future military engagements and expanding cooperation between the armed forces of both countries. Discussions covered key issues related to regional peace, security, and strategic stability, reflecting the deepening defence ties between India and Greece.
Maritime cooperation featured prominently in the talks, with both ancient seafaring nations highlighting convergence on several critical maritime security issues. The Greek side announced the deployment of a Greek International Liaison Officer at the Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) in Gurugram, further strengthening information sharing and maritime domain awareness.

Earlier in the day, the Greek Defence Minister paid tribute at the National War Memorial, honouring India’s fallen soldiers, and inspected a Tri-Service Guard of Honour at the Manekshaw Centre.
As part of the official visit, the Hellenic delegation is also visiting major defence and industrial establishments in Bengaluru and New Delhi, where they are engaging with Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), private defence companies, and start-ups.
The visit underlines the commitment of both nations to deepen their strategic and defence partnership, rooted in long-standing friendly relations and close people-to-people ties.
