Lucknow — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored India’s advancing self-reliance in the defence sector with the establishment of the BrahMos Aerospace integration and testing facility in Lucknow. Speaking at a commemorative event at National PG College, Singh noted that this cutting-edge unit will significantly enhance India’s defence preparedness while creating job opportunities and driving industrial growth in Uttar Pradesh.

Calling it a “major stride toward Atmanirbharta in defence,” Singh said the BrahMos facility aligns with the national goal of achieving complete self-sufficiency in critical sectors.

As Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow, Singh expressed pride in the city and state’s rapid development. He highlighted improvements in law and order and infrastructure, citing the expansion of expressways, metro services, airports, and medical institutes as signs of a transformed Uttar Pradesh.

The event also honoured Chandra Bhanu Gupta, former three-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, with the unveiling of his statue and the release of a commemorative postage stamp. Remembering Gupta’s role in India’s freedom movement and his values-driven leadership, Singh said, “He stood for honesty, public service, and humility. His life continues to inspire future generations.”

Singh recalled Gupta’s voluntary resignation under the 1963 Kamaraj Plan, lauding his commitment to party over position. “Even though he disagreed with the plan, he stepped down, showing the strength of his character,” Singh remarked.

Closing his address, Singh emphasized that politics should foster unity, not hostility, and leaders must uphold principles of service and cooperation.

The event showcased a powerful blend of national security progress and respect for legacy, reflecting India’s journey of modernisation grounded in timeless values.
