New Delhi: In a major development in Indian cricket administration, Rajeev Shukla has been appointed as the acting president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following the resignation of Roger Binny. Sources confirmed that Shukla will oversee the board’s affairs until the next official elections are conducted.
According to reports, the BCCI’s Apex Council convened a key meeting on Wednesday, which was chaired by Rajeev Shukla. The council discussed pressing issues, including the conclusion of Dream11’s sponsorship agreement and the need to secure a new sponsor for the next two-and-a-half years.
One of the major challenges highlighted during the meeting was the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to begin on September 10. With limited time remaining, finalizing a new sponsor has become a daunting task for the board.

A source close to the developments said, “We have less than two weeks. The process of issuing a fresh tender and selecting a sponsor takes time. Our focus is not just on a short-term deal for the Asia Cup, but on securing a sponsor until the 2027 ODI World Cup.”
With Shukla at the helm, the BCCI is expected to navigate both administrative transitions and sponsorship negotiations in the coming weeks.
