Railways Takes Concrete Steps to Ease Operations for Freight Traders

Lucknow: In a bid to make freight transportation smoother, safer and faster, the North Eastern Railway’s Lucknow Division held a special meeting with traders under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Gaurav Agarwal. The session focused on resolving key concerns raised by freight operators and improving overall logistics efficiency.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on safety measures, loading–unloading procedures, terminal maintenance, rake availability, overhead equipment (OHE), goods shed operations, road connectivity and the issue of train bunching.

To address traders’ concerns promptly, the railway administration announced a series of immediate action steps, including:

  • Strict instructions to ensure utmost care during loading of booked consignments.
  • Measures to minimize terminal detention and increase rake supply.
  • Immediate improvements in connectivity to ensure seamless freight movement.
  • Introduction of a new system to enhance goods shed facilities and streamline unloading processes.

The meeting was attended by key officials including Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Ashutosh Gupta, Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination) Gaurav Gupta, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (SOMD) Nilesh Singh, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (TRD) Dhananjay Mishra, Senior Divisional Operations Manager Prasanna Katyayan, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer Manish Gangwar, Senior Divisional Engineer III Manoj Kumar Singh, among others.

With these initiatives, the Lucknow Division aims to strengthen freight services, boost trader confidence and enhance the region’s trade logistics ecosystem.
