Racing’s New Identity: Red Bull Unveils New Livery for the 2026 Formula One Season

Detroit: Red Bull Racing has officially unveiled the new livery of its Formula One car for the 2026 season, marking a fresh visual identity as the team prepares for a new era in the sport. The grand reveal took place at the iconic Michigan Central Station, where the Milton Keynes-based team showcased its latest design in spectacular fashion in the city of Detroit.

Detroit holds special significance as it is the home of Ford, with whom Red Bull is developing its first-ever Formula One power unit. The partnership underlines the team’s long-term ambitions as F1 enters a new technical regulation cycle in 2026.

Adding a dramatic touch to the unveiling, Red Bull pilot Martin Šonka performed a unique stunt by flying an aircraft over the car and removing the cover mid-air, revealing the new livery to the audience below. The design pays homage to Red Bull’s early days in Formula One. When the energy drink giant entered the sport in 2005, its cars featured a distinctive glossy finish, a style echoed in the 2026 livery.

According to the team, the RB22’s new design uses a “heritage white base,” giving the car a cleaner and deeper visual appeal. This approach enhances the prominence of Red Bull’s iconic “Sun and Bull” logo, making it stand out more vividly on the grid.

For the 2026 season, Isack Hadjar will join four-time world champion Max Verstappen in the Red Bull Racing lineup, after moving up from sister team Racing Bulls. Red Bull last won the Constructors’ Championship in 2023 and is aiming to reclaim the world title with its revamped car, new driver pairing and in-house power unit programme.

Max Verstappen will race with car number 3 in the 2026 season, his preferred number. Previously, he competed with number 33, which is now used by his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Verstappen remains the team’s focal point as Red Bull looks to return to championship-winning form.

In the previous season, Red Bull finished third in the Constructors’ Championship. Despite the team’s challenges, Verstappen mounted an impressive comeback and stayed in contention for the Drivers’ Championship until the penultimate race in Abu Dhabi in 2024.

Hadjar, who joins Red Bull after just one season with Racing Bulls, will continue racing with number 6. On the technical front, Pierre Waché will lead the engineering team, while Laurent Mekies, who took over as team principal midway through last season from Christian Horner, will continue to head the team.

With a striking new livery, leadership changes and renewed championship ambitions, Red Bull Racing has signalled its intent to make a strong statement ahead of the 2026 Formula One season.
