Lucknow: A rabies awareness camp was conducted at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital, marking the first day of Rabies Awareness Week in observance of World Rabies Day.
Under the guidance of Hospital Director Dr. Kajli Gupta, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Rajesh Srivastava, and Medical Superintendent Dr. S.R. Singh, an awareness desk was set up in line with the theme “Now You, Me, Community” as directed by the Director General of Medical and Health Services, Uttar Pradesh. The desk, managed by the hospital’s pharmacist team, featured posters, banners, and pamphlets to educate patients and their families about rabies prevention, control, and vaccination.

Dr. Rajesh Srivastava emphasized the importance of immediate first aid, advising that any bite from dogs, cats, or other animals should be washed with running water and soap for 15 minutes, followed by prompt vaccination. He also highlighted that free rabies vaccines are always available at the hospital, ensuring accessible and life-saving treatment for all patients.
