Prayagraj — A Public Health and Water Summit is being organized today in Prayagraj to showcase the successful management of the recently concluded Maha Kumbh, held from January 10 to February 26, under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The summit will serve as a platform to study and understand the effective strategies and innovations implemented during the massive religious gathering, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.
The summit is expected to draw participation from renowned scientists, water experts, environmentalists, and representatives of various governmental and non-governmental organizations from across the country. For the first time, measures taken during Maha Kumbh for sanitation, water supply, healthcare services, and pilgrims’ convenience have garnered international attention and praise, the statement said.
Global Attention on Maha Kumbh’s Sanitation and Water Management

The Yogi Adityanath-led government, in collaboration with the Namami Gange Mission and the Rural Water Supply Department, successfully executed comprehensive water management, Ganga cleanliness drives, application of modern technologies, and disaster management systems during the mega event. These initiatives set new benchmarks for large-scale event management, particularly in the areas of public health and environmental conservation.
The summit will focus on key topics including public health, water resource management, and environmental balance. Experts will share insights on how advanced technologies and coordinated efforts ensured both the sanctity of the Ganga River and the provision of superior amenities to millions of devotees.

Solid Steps for a Clean and Divine Kumbh
According to the statement, the state government took significant measures under the Namami Gange initiative to ensure the Ganga remains clean and uninterrupted. Efforts included extensive cleaning of river ghats, installation of sewage treatment plants (STPs), deployment of bio-toilets, and efficient waste management systems. These initiatives helped make the 2025 Maha Kumbh the cleanest and most divine edition to date.
In addition to showcasing government achievements, the summit will also serve as a platform for NGOs, social activists, researchers, and policymakers to share their perspectives. Participants will discuss the success of this mega event and provide suggestions for future large-scale gatherings.
The Prayagraj summit marks a significant step in recognizing Uttar Pradesh’s efforts in public health and environmental sustainability, while also fostering dialogue on future strategies for managing grand events of global scale.
