Promoting tourism in Agra a priority area

Agra: Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay met Railway, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav at Rail Bhavan in New Delhi. In this meeting, he drew attention to the demands of the people of Agra district and various issues to promote religious tourist places and urged for necessary action.

Yogendra Upadhyay urged that a halt of the ultra-modern Shatabdi, Vande Bharat, Gatiman trains coming from Delhi should also be kept at the station “Datia” of Pitambara Devi’s Siddhpeeth for 2 minutes. This station is a major center of Hindu religious faith and this will provide convenience to the devotees.

The Higher Education Minister mentioned Bateshwar, Agra, a pilgrimage site of 101 Shivlingas of Lord Shiva and a pilgrimage site of Jainism in Shouripur, which is the birthplace of Lord Shri Neminath. He told that this place is also the birthplace of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Upadhyay proposed that a tourist luxury shuttle train should be run from Agra to Bateshwar.
