Programme Organized at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Birth Anniversary

Lucknow: A programme was organized at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) on 23rd January to commemorate the 129th birth anniversary of the eminent freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The event was held under the joint aegis of 20 UP Girls Battalion, 67 UP Battalion, National Cadet Corps (NCC), and the Sports Section of the University.

The programme was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal, and attended by Programme Coordinator and Associate NCC Officer Lt. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Dadwal, In-charge Associate NCC Officer Dr. Sufia Ahmad, Dr. Jeevan Singh, faculty members, and students. It commenced with floral tributes being offered to a portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by the Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, and students.

In his address, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal highlighted Netaji’s pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle, noting that he gave a new direction to the movement through the formation of the Azad Hind Fauj. He recalled Netaji’s famous slogan, ‘Jai Hind’, which later became a national slogan, and the powerful call, ‘Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Main Tumhe Azadi Dunga’, which inspired courage and patriotism among Indians. Prof. Mittal emphasised that these contributions earned him the affectionate title of ‘Netaji’.

The event saw participation from faculty members across various departments, NCC cadets, and a large number of students, reflecting the university community’s respect and admiration for the legendary freedom fighter.
