Shahjahanpur – A special program on *women’s empowerment, safety, and cyber awareness* was organized at Pandit Deendayal Degree College, Tilhar. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from girl students, who were guided on self-protection techniques and cyber safety measures.
The program began with a welcome address and ceremonial lamp lighting by the college principal. Addressing the gathering, the Circle Officer of Tilhar emphasized that the Mission Shakti campaign of the Uttar Pradesh government is a flagship initiative aimed at creating a safe environment for women and girls, ensuring their security, and promoting self-reliance.
During the session, students were given practical self-defense tips and informed about police-led training programs. The officer urged them to immediately contact helpline numbers in case of emergencies, including:
1090 (Women Power Line)
181 (Women Helpline)
112 (Emergency Helpline)
1930 (Cyber Fraud Reporting)
The officer also reassured participants that in cases of harassment or crimes against women, the victim’s identity would be kept strictly confidential.

Under the cyber awareness segment, students were cautioned about the growing risks in the digital space:
* Avoid clicking on unknown numbers or suspicious links.
* Never share OTPs or passwords with anyone.
* Be cautious while interacting with strangers on social media.
* Report cases of cyberbullying, fake IDs, online fraud, or obscene messages immediately via [www.cybercrime.gov.in](http://www.cybercrime.gov.in) or by calling 1930.
“Cybercrime is growing rapidly, but prevention is entirely possible if we remain vigilant and aware,” the officer said. He added that women’s safety is not solely the responsibility of the police but a *collective responsibility of society*. Every young person must stay alert, protect themselves, and extend support to others.
The college administration praised the efforts of the police officials, calling the session *highly useful and inspiring* for the students.
